Timing ICs are key building blocks of electronic systems. They are used as system clocks for digital operation, sampling clocks for discrete-time signal processing, reference clocks and voltage-controlled oscillators for frequency synthesis, and sleep-mode timers for duty-cycled operation. Low-power, high-precision CMOS oscillators are especially required in miniaturized SoCs for emerging microsystems such as wireless sensor nodes and implantable medical devices. We have made good contributions in this area.
CMOS Oscillator ICs
We proposed a self-clocked offset-cancellation scheme for comparators in the RC relaxation oscillator, resulting in significantly improved long-term stability and closed-in phase noise performances, which are most important parameters for primary clock sources in implantable biomedical SoCs.
